The ability of our crops to absorb precious remaining nutrients has been jeopardized
The ability of our fruits and vegetables to absorb nutrients is dependent upon a fungi. In nature, a symbiotic relationship exists between plants and a type of beneficial fungi known as mycorrhizae, which grow on a plant’s root. Mycorrhizae helps plants absorb *nutrients* from the soil more effectively. The modern agricultural practice of loading soil with artificial fertilizers and pesticides create an environment where the mychorrhizal fungi cannot survive.
WHAT ARE MYCORRHIZAE? The word "mycorrhizae" literally means "fungus-roots" and defines the close mutually beneficial relationship between specialized soil fungi (mycorrhizal fungi) and plant roots. BENEFITS INCLUDE: Improved *nutrient* and water uptake Improved root growth Improved plant growth and yield Reduced transplant shock Reduced drought stress
This practice interferes with the ability of plants to extract all the *nutrients* they need from the soil.
A person would have to eat twice as many vegetables to get the same amount of *nutrients* as our grandparents.
